Wow forty days of lent gone by in the blink of an eye.

I actually started my journey two days before on 20th Feb but decided to follow the 40 days anyway.

In that time i am 22lbs lighter Very Happy and happy with what i have achieved.

For me the most motivational quote was day 27, there are only so many tomorrows. How true that is
and for all of us we do not know what tomorrow may bring so if you want to do something then do it
today.

That quote stuck with me and has helped me to realise that just putting things off meant that i never
actually got to do what i wanted. Why would i want to spend the future struggling with weight and
weight related issues when i can do something about it today.

I have loved the quotes and looked forward to reading them each day. I will still be looking out for Kates
tips on the forum.

Thanks admin for all the help and advice and tips that make this journey a bit easier Smile its not easy to
do this but the results make all this hard work worthwhile.

Reading your quotes every day really gives me something to think about. Its so true that things will only
start to happen if we change the way we do things and make them happen.

Every time i get a bit of doubt popping in my head i read something that changes my thought pattern so well

Thanks Admin for the words of encouragement. I am going to try and up my water this week from 3lts to 4. It
should be easier with the warmer weather thats now around. Apart from that i dont think i have done anything
different so i will persevere.

So glad it helped you, it's amazing sometimes when something someone says or you read can hit a chord. It is so right as well, dieting is hard but it isnt the one day that makes the difference to the scales is the one week and then the one after that and then the one completed month. Its continuing do what you know works for a period of time that makes the difference. Thats why the 40 days of lent was a great idea, 40 days will make a huge difference to all dieters.

Sometimes on any weight loss plan you hit a plateau for no apparent reason, water is the same, food is the same, exercise is the same, then you know you body is just taking stock of the recent changes. But if you feel you havent been 100% it can be a warning just to go back over your last couple of days or week and examine what you have done, possibly water is a little down, possibly been picking a little more than usual, or included a new item which may have extra carbs/calories - citric acid etc.

Push through the doubts, need to eat or the boredom you may feel, imagine scrunching them up, pulling them out of your head and chuck them away in the bin. Close your eyes and imagine you are writing on a blackboard todays motivational quote, write it 3 times, whilst saying the words either out loud or in your head. Once done sit quietly somewhere and really praise and commend yourself for how well you have done so far. Pull back the memories of all the times you have been proud of yourself over the last 40 days or since starting your plan, remember how chuffed you were when you turned away from food, how good you felt after and tell yourself you working towards what you really really want. A slimmer, healthier you for Summer 2012 .

who can believe how quick the lent and all these quotes are going!

It will be great to see what we have achieved by the end.

Just wanted to report in to say I am still doing my "lent" sit ups at least 5 times a week. I am up to 100 a time now so quite impressed I am keeping it up. I will continue after as I can really see the difference.

Good Luck Keebees on clocking up all those lbs/kgs we have lost together over the Lent period.

miracle happening before my eyes. Its true, things dont happen overnight and i need to be changing my mindset as well
as my eating habits.

Hi Sue, how is your journey going and how are you doing?

I am trying to behave until Skegness. That way i should have lost a decent amount, and won't feel SOOOOOOO terrible when eating normal food - 'normal'!! lol.

I am sat amongst a pile of paperwork right now actually! Uni keeps me really busy, however, one of my old habbits is scoffing M&M's, maltesers or something whilst i write or research. This is a hard habbit to break. That said i have managed. Just prepping some more now for placement on Monday.

I'll log on tomorrow and tell you how i did. And yes, this site is my saving grace at times of temptation.

Everyone seems to have their own thread of their journey, I think i just add myself to everyones. lol. I am obviously not as oganised as all you ladies.

I know I have said it before but the quotes are jsut so motivational and gets my brain working and applying it to my lifestyle.

Hi Kayleigh, my word you sound like you have been busy. I bet your uni work keeps you out of trouble.

Glad to hear that you have been doing okay over the past few days, i was wondering where you had got to.

I try to keep posting on here when i can, i find it helps me to put things in writing, mind you it sounds like you
have enough writing to do without adding to it.

I hope you have a good weight loss, be good and happy drinking (water that is!!!)

I have missed you, and its only been a few days (i think - not 100% the days have blurred). I am at University, and just finished writing my final essay for this academic term (besides the 7000 word placement report!).

Admin, i love your quotes, they keep us all going. I didnt weigh in this morning. I am having a 'feel thin' day today - just feel like i have lost. So will weigh in the morning now.

Morning All,

Sorry I am messing up these forums by just posting anywhere Sad.

Busy busy girl today so will reply to all the posts from yesterday later but as it is my weigh day thought I better pop in and let you know the details!!

it is a 1lb loss this week. I nearly thought "what" but then I look at the last 3 weeks and i lost 7lbs then 3lbs so I think 1lbs is certainly acceptable this far in. Of course i would have loved it to be more but i am happy with 1lbs and hope that next week it will be back to a 3lbs loss. Anyway the good news with that is I actual hit the 2 stone mark today bounce so loved that. no far until I get into the next stone bracket too so another target in my sights.

Will pop in later tonight as off to meetings, have customers etc etc. sorry for abandoning and posting on the wrong thread but just wanted to let you know.

Todays quote was a little different from our previous messages and taken from an author of the book 100 Days Weight Loss by Linda Spangle, here is her explaination of the message, we felt this carried on from LENT DAY 21 nicely....

The difference between being interested and being committed is HUGE! The author goes on to explain that when you’re interested in losing weight, you’ll diet until something better comes along. In other words, you’ll be “good on your diet” until you’re confronted with pizza or a margarita or whatever your favorite treat happens to be. You’ll stay on your diet until you hit a plateau or until the going gets tough.

According to Linda Spangle, when you’re committed to losing weight, nothing is going to get in your way! You’ll pass up the temptations because they won’t be as important as your weight loss goal. Your motivation for weight loss will be a result of your commitment! You’ll power through plateaus because you’ll understand that eventually the weight will drop when you’re following your plan. It’s a huge difference, right?

Another big difference between between interested and being committed is your "diet frame of mind." If you're merely interested in losing weight, you'll feel deprived and resentful when being "forced" to make wise food choices. A committed dieter, however, feels stronger as every wise choice is made. This person isn't resentful because they understand that the choice puts them that much closer to their goal!

So, let your motivation for weight loss be tied to the question: Are you interested in losing weight or are you committed to losing weight?

So often people wait to start a diet until they’re motivated. After years and years of dieting and succeeding and dieting and failing, I’m convinced that the motivation generally comes later in the diet journey. So, another good piece of weight loss motivation advice I’d like to offer is, ”Start NOW and the motivation WILL come!”

Where do we find the motivation to lose weight?
We all know that dieting is a head game. When your mind is made up, nothing else matters. If your head is in the right place, the most wonderful temptations won’t get you off track.
If you have truly decided that you’re tired of being overweight and sedentary, you’re going to change your lifestyle and lose weight. That is simply all there is to it. Being inspired is a powerful, glorious feeling!

Sustaining the desire to lose weight is a tricky thing. Often we try to get inspired by external factors. We want some person or some product or some plan to encourage us. I’m of the opinion that real inspiration, the kind that sustains us through a long, grueling process, comes mainly from within.

In all my years of trying to lose weight and be healthy, the most important thing I discovered was that the "driving force" often comes later in the weight-loss process. Many of us believe that we have to have it to get started. I say START and the inspiration will come! Following a diet plan for two weeks will almost certainly result in weight loss. Once we experience weight loss, we begin to feel better about ourselves. We begin to believe that we can do it.

We begin to see that decreasing the amount of food we eat and increasing our activity really does burn fat. We begin to feel a little more comfortable in our clothes. We begin to see our eyes looking brighter and less puffy. We notice that our rings fit better. We begin to believe that it’s POSSIBLE to make a change. Guess what? THAT'S CALLED MOTIVATION!!

Love the quote for today admin

Its so obvious but sometimes the hardest thing to implement-having the right mental attitude.
For a years most of us have fed our minds certain lines of speech "i can never give up bread" " i can't ever lose more than half a stone, a stone etc" "I have no will power" "i don't deserve to be slim" etc etc...
And because this inner speech and self talk we never can achieve anything more than we tell ourselves.

We all need to start changing our inner speech and feeding our minds on postive things, even if we don't personally believe it our subconscious is a curious little thing. We start saying to ourselves "I CAN lose the weight" " I am going to be a size 10" "I am happy with myself" then we start to work in harmony with these thoughts and achieve them.

I may not have expressed that very well and i'm sorry if its not very clear.. but basically we can do whatever we want to do. we just need to tell ourselves everyday numerous times that we can and it will happen for us.

Phew.. thanks admin for the motivation

Admin how right you are. While following the days of lent and reading the quotes i found that most of them
applied to me and have begun to realise how empowering taking control of your life really is. I think like many people, i
let food rule me, whatever the occasion there was always a reason to eat or drink, whether happy, sad, lonely, celebrating,
commiserating, stressed, the list goes on.

I realise now how many empty calories i really consumed before, things that only really lasted a moment but gave me a
lifetime of weight issues.

Thank you for the support, three weeks on and one stone lighter, got to be more rewarding than the choccy.

Wow how true is this one for a Monday morning......... No one else can make us lose weight only ourselves and we must truly want it because it's not easy and along the path you will have everything thrown at you, a party, birthday, family sunday dinner, picnic, easter, the list goes on. There will always be something happening that involves food or drink. But if we have the right attitude and are willing to make the right decisions and make sacrifices for a short time, our weight loss will be the quickest route ever to our goal and dream of being slim.

Always remember No one can force you to eat, no matter what situation you are in, you personally decided if to compromise your diet, you always have the final decision. The time that people actually eat throughout a day or at an occasion is quite short, and with the right attitude you can get around any eating/drinking situation and stick to your diet plan if you really want to. Sometimes you have to dig really deep and decided if you are making an excuse for yourself.... so you can eat or drink because deep down you will enjoy it.

We convince ourselves that we will have to eat or drink ... because hubby/wife can't eat alone, its embarrassing if I don't order, I don't want others to know I'm dieting, it was booked ages ago and I can't get out of it, I want to go, everyone else will be having a drink and I be left out, my child loves to share goodies with me - its good manners to take one, I havent seen my friends for ages and will have to eat - just for this occasion,.......but it won't be just this once, there will always be another occasion.

If we have the right attitude to our weight loss plan we can move mountains (and pounds each week) and if we want to complete the weight loss plan and be slimmer and reach our goal in the quickest & easiest way you need to stick to your promise when you started your plan and follow 100%. Everyone is different and some dieters can move up a plan for the day and consume a little permitted food and go back to their planned diet the next day with the right attitude and without damage and if this was your promise when you began then stick to it and make sure you choose foods/drinks wisely. But for other dieters and sadly most, eating anything will halt their diet and mindset, they may struggle on with weight loss, going up and down because little bits are dropping into their plan, cheating every now and again, "when needed", making their weight loss so so difficult and possibly will never reach their actual destination or may double the journey time.
